The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for PTI leader Asad Qaiser in the Judicial Complex case. Qaiser, a former National Assembly speaker, is accused of being involved in the incident alongside other senior PTI leaders.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the case on Monday. During the proceedings, the court directed police to arrest Qaiser and produce him before the bench.
The case was registered at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station. It names several PTI leaders for their alleged role in the attack on the Judicial Complex.
While ordering Qaiser’s arrest, the ATC also approved exemption applications for Parvez Elahi, Asad Umar, and Shibli Faraz. Their lawyers filed formal requests, citing reasons for their absence. The court allowed them to skip personal appearances during this session.
The ATC further observed that a letter sent to the Law Ministry regarding the PTI founder remains unanswered. The court emphasized the importance of receiving a response to proceed effectively with the case.
Judge Sipra then adjourned the hearing until October 6. The court will resume proceedings on that date and review whether its arrest orders have been implemented.
This development adds to the growing legal troubles faced by PTI leadership. Several party members are already facing multiple cases across the country.
The ATC’s decision highlights the seriousness of the charges in the Judicial Complex case. Legal experts believe the upcoming hearing will be crucial in determining the next steps against Asad Qaiser and others accused in the case.
