Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi has made history as the first female police officer from Pakistan to be selected for the prestigious Asia 21 Next Generation Fellowship.
The Punjab Police confirmed the announcement after the Asia Society unveiled its Class of 2025 fellows, recognizing Naqvi for her dedication to safeguarding vulnerable communities and driving reforms within Pakistan’s policing system. She joins 30 leaders from 27 countries chosen for their commitment to social impact.
The fellowship summit will be held in Manila, Philippines, from December 5 to 7, 2025, where fellows will collaborate on solutions to pressing regional challenges. Punjab IGP Dr. Usman Anwar praised Naqvi’s achievement as a milestone for both Pakistan and the Punjab Police, highlighting her role in strengthening women’s presence in law enforcement.
ASP Shehrbano Naqvi first rose to prominence in March 2024 after bravely defusing a mob attack in Lahore’s Ichhra area.
