Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has completed an official visit to China. The trip aimed to strengthen military ties and enhance strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China.
During his visit, Asim Munir held several important meetings with senior Chinese military leaders. He met General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the PLA Army, and Lt Gen Cai Zhai Jun, Chief of Staff of the PLA Army.
Upon arrival at PLA Army Headquarters, Asim Munir was given a formal guard of honour. The discussions focused on expanding defence cooperation. Both sides agreed to improve joint training, counterterrorism efforts, and military modernization.
China praised the role of the Pakistan Army in promoting peace and stability in South Asia. The Chinese military described Pakistan’s forces as a strong pillar of regional security.
Both countries emphasized better operational coordination. They discussed ways to address hybrid warfare and cross-border threats. Institutional linkages and intelligence-sharing were also part of the agenda.
During his stay in Beijing, Asim Munir also met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. They discussed regional and global challenges, including cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The meetings highlighted the importance of collective security and long-term regional stability. Both sides agreed on the need for sovereign equality and stronger multilateral engagement.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit reflects the deep trust and strategic bond between the two nations. It reinforced Pakistan’s commitment to deepening defence relations with China.
Asim Munir’s visit marks a key moment in Pakistan-China relations. It shows the importance of shared goals in defence, development, and regional peace.
