In a media interaction, the seasoned politician asserted that the former Chief of Army Staff, Gen (r) Qamar Javed Bajwa, and the former ISI chief, Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed, wielded influence over legislative processes during the previous government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Asif underscored the importance of involving not just politicians but also various stakeholders to achieve political stability. He argued that collaboration among different elements is essential for ensuring stability in the political landscape.

Additionally, the former minister disclosed that Qamar Javed Bajwa and Faiz Hameed played pivotal roles in shaping legislation related to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He admitted that during the ousted government, consultations with them occurred at their military messes for legislative matters. As per Asif, this military interference in the law-making process had repercussions on the nation.
Expressing the need for all political parties to prioritize national interests and work together for the nation’s progress, Asif highlighted the adverse effects of military involvement in legislative affairs.
Furthermore, he launched a verbal attack against President Dr. Arif Alvi, accusing him of violating the constitution by not convening the inaugural session of the National Assembly within the constitutionally mandated timeframe.
