Asif Ali Announced Retirement from International Cricket

Pakistan’s middle-order batsman Asif Ali announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday, describing it as the “greatest honour” of his career to represent the nation.

The 33-year-old featured in 21 ODIs and 58 T20Is, primarily serving as a middle-order finisher.

“Wearing the Pakistan jersey has been the greatest honour of my life, and representing my country on the cricket field remains my proudest chapter,” he shared on social media.

He expressed gratitude to fans, teammates, and coaches for their unwavering support through all highs and lows.

Asif made his T20I debut against the West Indies in April 2018, after a standout performance in the PSL final for Islamabad United, where he hit three consecutive sixes at a crucial stage. His ODI debut followed two months later.

“To my family and friends, who stood by me through joy and the deepest trials, including the loss of my daughter during the World Cup, your support gave me strength,” he added.

Asif Ali concluded: “I retire with immense gratitude and, InshaAllah, will continue my passion for cricket by participating in domestic and international leagues.”

During his career, Asif also faced disciplinary action from the ICC after a heated on-field clash with Afghanistan’s Fareed Ahmad in an Asia Cup match in Sharjah.
