Ashura Punjab announces plans to suspend mobile services

The Punjab Home Department has announced a comprehensive plan to manage the suspension of mobile services during the 9th and 10th of Muharram, aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens. Unlike previous years, mobile services will not be entirely suspended in any city within Punjab. Instead, the government has decided to limit the suspension to areas along the routes of Muharram processions and majalis. This plan applies to cities including Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Khushab, Sialkot, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal.

For the 9th and 10th of Muharram, the government has suggested partial suspension of mobile services in most districts from 8am to 10pm. This partial suspension will affect areas in Gujranwala, Narowal, Toba Tek Singh, Bhakkar, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Rajanpur, Faisalabad, Bahawalnagar, and Hafizabad.

Additionally, on Sunday, the 7th of Muharram, mobile service was already suspended in parts of Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Jhang, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar. The Punjab Home Department emphasized, “The decision to suspend mobile service at certain places has been taken to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of citizens during Muharram processions and assemblies.”
