Arshad Nadeem’s Village to Get Rs 52.97M Athletics Stadium (1)

An athletics stadium is under construction in Chak 101/15-L, Main Channu, the home village of Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem. Officials report that about 60% of the work has already been completed.

The project was launched after the Punjab government promised a dedicated sports facility following Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic gold medal and record javelin throw. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif allocated a special grant of Rs. 50 million through the Sports Department to initiate the scheme.

District Sports Officer Muhammad Hafeez said the stadium covers seven acres and is being built at a total cost of Rs. 52.973 million. The boundary wall, jogging track, and open-air gym have been completed, and a turbine has been installed to provide water for the grounds.

Once electricity is connected, officials will begin grass laying and plantation work. The stadium is scheduled for completion by June 2027, providing modern sports infrastructure for local and regional athletes.

Recently, Arshad Nadeem invited Deputy Commissioner Khanewal, Maliha Rasheed, to inspect the stadium site in his village. She accepted the invitation and praised the initiative, emphasizing the government’s focus on promoting sports and restoring playgrounds.

Maliha Rasheed added that the administration is committed to expanding sports facilities so that emerging athletes can be trained to represent Pakistan at national and international competitions.

Officials said the stadium will serve as a center for nurturing young athletes and honoring Arshad Nadeem’s achievements. They noted that the facility is expected to encourage more youth participation in athletics across the region.
