Two Pakistani soldiers, including a senior army officer, were martyred during an anti-terror operation in Mastung, Balochistan, the military confirmed on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident occurred on Wednesday during an intelligence-based operation. Security forces launched the raid after receiving reports of terrorists linked to an Indian proxy group, Fitna al-Hindustan, hiding in the area.
During the operation, troops engaged the terrorists effectively. Three militants were killed in the exchange of fire, the ISPR stated.
Tragically, Major Zeeyyad Salim Awal, aged 31 and a resident of Khushab, lost his life in the line of duty. He was leading his men from the front and displayed exceptional bravery. Alongside him, Sepoy Nazam Hussain, 22, from Jhelum district, also embraced martyrdom while serving the nation.
Following the encounter, a sanitisation operation is underway in Mastung to ensure no more terrorists remain in the area. The military said that these terrorists were supported by external forces and are part of broader efforts to destabilise Pakistan.
The ISPR emphasized that the Mastung anti-terror operation reflects Pakistan’s firm commitment to eradicating terrorism. The military vowed to continue its fight against threats backed by foreign elements.
Such sacrifices, it said, only strengthen the resolve of the armed forces to defend the country and its people at all costs.
