Are Shaukat Khanum Bank Accounts Frozen Due to PTI Protests?

Shaukat Khanum, Pakistan’s first dedicated cancer hospital in Lahore, confirmed that a few of its bank accounts have been temporarily frozen, causing minor disruptions.

The hospital, founded by Imran Khan, assured the public that most accounts remain active and donations are still being received without interruption. Officials emphasized that only a limited number of accounts are affected and efforts are underway to resolve the restrictions promptly.

Patient care and treatment services continue normally, with the administration thanking donors and citizens nationwide for their continued support, especially as the hospital provides free cancer treatment to over 75% of patients.

The announcement comes amid rising tensions as PTI leaders, including Sindh president Haleem Adil Sheikh, were briefly detained during protests demanding access to jailed party chief Imran Khan. The demonstration, sparked by repeated denials of jail visits at Adiala in Rawalpindi, saw PTI figures rally supporters but face a strong police presence. Party leaders criticized authorities for preventing the meetings and alleged violations of basic detainee rights.
