Arbab Niaz Stadium In Peshawar Undergoes Transformation For PSL Fans

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]As the eagerly awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating the cricket festival. The excitement has heightened with the reveal of the renovated Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar. Peshawar Zalmi supporters express their fervent wish for PSL 9 matches to be hosted on their home ground.

Peshawar Zalmi shared a video today showcasing the revamped Arbab Niaz Stadium on their social media, captioning it “This is Our Home.”

While Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, and Lahore Qalandars play matches at their respective home venues, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators haven’t had the chance to play at their home grounds.

The Arbab Niaz Stadium was under construction during the last PSL season, leading to no matches being held there. Unfortunately, the stadium is not fully ready for matches, making it unlikely for matches to be played there this time.

Despite these challenges, Peshawar Zalmi’s fans eagerly await seeing their team play in Peshawar. Hopefully, the PCB and PSL management will consider scheduling a few matches at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in the upcoming PSL season.

Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi expressed his desire for home matches in Peshawar on social media, stating, “NO MORE IFS & BUTS, WE NEED ZALMI HOME MATCHES IN PESHAWAR.”

A controversy arises about Arbab Niaz Stadium, with concerns from some fans about the small size of the boundaries. Despite suggestions that the ground seems to have only 40–50-meter boundaries, official measurements state a 75-meter straight boundary, aligning with international match and T20 format standards. While it might appear smaller in videos, in live settings, it could offer an ideal size for T20 gameplay.

The last international match held at Arbab Niaz Stadium in February 2006 featured a showdown between Pakistan and India. Hosting some PSL 9 matches in Peshawar would be groundbreaking news, potentially adding excitement and joy to the tournament.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
