The Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) has granted a construction license for the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit Five (C-5), set to become the largest nuclear power plant in the country.
The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) applied for the license in April 2024, submitting a comprehensive safety assessment report along with other necessary documentation. After a thorough evaluation, the PNRA issued the license, ensuring that the project complies with both national and international regulatory standards.

The C-5 plant will have a generation capacity of 1,200 MW, significantly boosting Pakistan’s nuclear energy output. This project represents a critical step in Pakistan’s efforts to meet its growing energy needs through sustainable and reliable sources.
The Chashma Nuclear Power Plant currently operates several units, and with the addition of Unit Five, the country’s nuclear energy infrastructure will continue to expand and advance.
