Apple has introduced a bold new design system called Liquid Glass, marking its most significant visual overhaul in more than a decade. Announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, the interface brings a glass-like, responsive aesthetic inspired by the company’s Vision Pro spatial computing headset.
The Liquid Glass design aims to create a seamless, immersive experience across all Apple devices — from iPhones and iPads to Macs, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. The interface features real-time responsiveness, depth effects, and light refraction that mimic physical glass, offering a dynamic and fluid user experience.

App icons have been transformed into layered, translucent visuals available in light, dark, and a new “clear mode.” Key system elements like Control Center, Lock Screen, and notifications have also been redesigned. Apple also introduced the ability to turn 2D images into 3D spatial scenes, pointing toward a deeper integration of spatial computing in everyday apps.
Liquid Glass will be rolled out simultaneously across iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26 — a first for Apple. Updated developer tools will allow third-party apps to adopt the new design language, potentially accelerating the shift to more immersive digital environments.
While no new hardware was revealed, analysts believe this sweeping visual revamp signals Apple’s growing focus on augmented reality and mixed-reality experiences. A public beta is expected later this summer, with full releases in the fall.
