Apple Plans to Release a More Affordable Vision Pro Headset in 2025

While Apple’s Vision Pro headset has yet to create a significant impact, the company remains committed to advancing mixed reality technology. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is expected to release a more affordable mixed-reality headset as early as next year.

Key Details:

  • Pricing: The new headset is anticipated to be priced around $2,000, a considerable reduction from the $3,500 price tag of the Vision Pro.
  • Cost Reductions: To achieve this lower price point, Apple is expected to use less expensive materials, incorporate a less powerful processor, and omit the EyeSight external eye display.

Looking further ahead, Gurman indicates that a second-generation Vision Pro is slated for release in 2026. Additionally, there are plans for smart glasses akin to Meta’s Ray-Bans and camera-equipped AirPods, potentially arriving in 2027.

Smart Home Initiatives:

Gurman’s report also highlights Apple’s renewed focus on smart home technology:

  • Budget-Friendly Display: Apple is reportedly developing a cost-effective, iPad-like display designed for home use, enabling users to watch TV, make FaceTime calls, and run apps.
  • Advanced Tabletop Device: In addition, an advanced tabletop device featuring a robotic arm is in development, potentially priced around $1,000.

Upcoming Product Launches:

Before these mixed reality and smart home products hit the market, Apple is set to launch the next generation of MacBook Pros later this month. These new MacBooks will be powered by Apple’s M4 chips, offering enhanced AI capabilities. The lineup will also include new iMacs and Mac desktop computers available in new colors.
