More than 95,000 families in Punjab have received interest-free loans under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar housing scheme. The initiative aims to help low and middle-income families build or buy their own homes across the province.

According to officials, each selected family receives up to Rs 1.5 million in loans, which can be repaid in easy monthly installments over nine years. The loans are completely interest-free and provided through a transparent digital process to ensure fair distribution.

The Punjab government said that the scheme is part of its broader plan to make housing affordable for everyone. Thousands of houses have already been completed under the program, while many more are under construction. The government has also announced plans to expand the scheme further in the coming months.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz earlier said that “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” is a promise of dignity and stability for working-class families. She added that the initiative not only provides homes but also creates jobs in the construction sector, supporting the local economy.

The scheme has received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of thousands of applications submitted through the online portal. Authorities have assured that loan disbursement and construction approvals will continue at a faster pace to meet the growing demand.

Punjab has also allocated a significant budget for this housing initiative, ensuring that deserving families across all districts benefit equally. The government plans to introduce more housing-friendly policies in the future to make home ownership easier for the public.
