Veteran Indian music composer Anu Malik has addressed controversy surrounding his involvement in the upcoming film Border 2, clarifying the situation about credit for its recreated song “Ghar Kab Aaoge” ahead of the movie’s release this year.
The film’s teaser for Ghar Kab Aaoge — a reimagined version of the iconic Sandese Aate Hain from the original Border — stirred debate after reports suggested Malik was concerned about not being properly credited for the track’s legacy. The remake features new elements composed by Mithoon and additional lyrics by Manoj Muntashir, performed by an ensemble of prominent singers.
Responding to the buzz, Malik took to his Instagram Stories to clarify the record and calm fans’ speculation. He said that producer Bhushan Kumar has already credited him “with immense warmth and respect” for his role in the creation of the music that inspired Ghar Kab Aaoge. Malik described the collaboration as something he is truly proud of and expressed gratitude for the recognition he has received.
In his statement, Malik emphasised that any reports claiming otherwise were based on “incorrect reporting,” underlining that he stands by the project and feels honoured to be associated with the film’s soundtrack. His reassurance is seen as an effort to dispel misunderstandings about his relationship with the Border 2 creative team.
Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by T‑Series and JP Films, is one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2026. Alongside its music, the film’s promotional material — including recent pictures and teasers shared by star Varun Dhawan — has drawn strong emotional reactions from fans, adding to the excitement ahead of its theatrical premiere.
The movie features a high‑profile cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, and is positioned as a patriotic war drama following the legacy of the 1997 original.
