A coalition of citizens, animal rights activists, and legal advocates will gather at the Islamabad Press Club on June 21, 2025, to protest the mistreatment of stray dogs in Pakistan.

The peaceful demonstration and press conference, starting at 1 PM, aim to highlight the alarming conditions at the CDA Stray Dog Population Control Center, criticized for cruelty, neglect, and lack of veterinary care.

Dubbed a “death hole” by campaigners, the center reportedly lacks medical staff and proper facilities, making it both a site of animal abuse and a public health concern.

Veterinarians, lawyers, students, journalists, and residents are uniting to demand humane treatment for animals. Leading the legal fight is Altamush Saeed, founder of Environmental and Animal Rights Consultants Pakistan (EARC-PK), the country’s first dedicated animal and environmental law firm.

The matter will be presented in the Islamabad High Court on June 25, where Saeed will push to stop further intake of animals and seek the facility’s handover to a certified animal welfare organization.

Organizers are encouraging public participation at both the protest on June 21 and the court hearing on June 25.
