Global tech giant Amazon is gearing up to launch its satellite broadband service in Pakistan next year under its ambitious Project Kuiper initiative, aimed at providing high-speed internet across the country.
A meeting between Federal IT and Telecom Minister Shiza Fatima Khawaja and the Amazon Project Kuiper delegation marked a major milestone in advancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure. According to the IT Ministry, this partnership will help transform the nation’s connectivity landscape and promote inclusive access to technology.
Project Kuiper, part of Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network, is expected to roll out in Pakistan by late 2026. The multi-billion-dollar global venture seeks to extend reliable and fast internet services to even the most remote and underserved areas.
Minister Shiza Fatima welcomed Amazon’s interest, calling it a breakthrough for Pakistan’s digital growth and a step toward realizing the vision of a “Digital Pakistan.” She said the initiative would ensure that citizens, regardless of location, benefit from secure, affordable, and high-speed internet.
Equipped with 3,236 satellites, Project Kuiper aims to deliver broadband speeds of up to 400 Mbps through cost-effective user terminals. By focusing on bridging the digital divide, the project will empower education, e-commerce, and entrepreneurship in rural regions, positioning Pakistan as a key player in the global digital economy.
