Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt revealed that after entering the film industry, she faced criticism over her appearance and weight. In an interview with an Indian channel, Alia shared that before starting her acting career, she was content with how she looked, despite being a bit overweight and having a different skin tone than the typical heroines.

She recalled that during the early days of her career, she was mocked for her weight and appearance. “I was a chubby, healthy child and very happy with myself at the time. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with how I looked,” she said. Even after losing weight, Alia admitted that she still struggles with body-image issues and is mindful of her weight.

Despite friends advising her to stop dieting and enjoy life, she feels the need to maintain a certain look to meet Bollywood’s standards. Alia has earned recognition for her acting talent in several films, including Highway. She will next be seen in Jigra alongside Vedang Raina, as well as in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
