Ali Tareen has officially stepped away from his role as owner of the Multan Sultans, marking the end of an important chapter for the franchise.
In a heartfelt message shared on X, Ali Tareen expressed his deep connection to the team and its fans. He emphasized how much the Multan Sultans have meant to him and the people of South Punjab.
Reflecting on his journey, Tareen described owning the team as one of the greatest honors of his life. He thanked fans for their continued support through challenges. “I love the fans, I love this team, and I absolutely love representing South Punjab,” he wrote.
The emotional farewell also paid tribute to his late uncle, Alamgir Tareen, who was proud of the team’s role in representing South Punjab. Ali Tareen said he always reminded players and staff of the responsibility of representing a resilient and hardworking community.
Despite financial difficulties over the years, Tareen stressed that the Multan Sultans meant more to him than just profit. “I never once thought about walking away. The Sultans have always been much more than numbers,” he added.
Tareen also acknowledged that he wasn’t always popular but remained true to his principles. “I have always been honest and spoken my mind. If staying compromises my values, there is only one choice,” he explained.
He urged fans to continue supporting the team, no matter who assumes ownership next. “This team has always belonged to you and to South Punjab. You can count on me to support them from the stands,” he said.
