Pakistani singer Aima Baig has announced her plan to start a #MeToo movement in Pakistan. Her goal is to empower women and combat predators and cheaters. This announcement was made through her Instagram stories after her performance in Jeddah and her Umrah pilgrimage.
In her posts, Baig shared that her Umrah experience had given her the strength to tackle issues faced by women in Pakistan. She described the pilgrimage as a deeply peaceful and strengthening experience, reinforcing her commitment to improving the situation for women in her country.
Baig admitted that she had been aware of predators and cheaters affecting women of all ages but had stayed silent until now. She clarified that while she wasn’t necessarily speaking about her own experiences, she was addressing the broader issue affecting women around her.

She expressed concern over how cheating and the exploitation of women’s naivety have become normalized. Baig criticized this attitude, describing it as a joke and emphasizing that such behavior should not be accepted.
In a follow-up post, Baig officially announced her intention to initiate the #MeToo movement in Pakistan. She highlighted the frequency of these issues and stressed the importance of respecting and valuing women.
Acknowledging her influence, Baig urged women to confront what she described as an ongoing issue that men find amusing. She pointed out the significant mental and physical toll this exploitation takes on young, naive women.
This announcement follows Baig’s recent plans to leave Pakistan for an extended period after her Umrah. Earlier this year, she discussed her breakup with ex-fiancé Shahbaz Shigri on Ahmad Ali Butt’s podcast. Despite the split, Baig confirmed that she and Shahbaz maintain a good and civil relationship. She reflected positively on their past connection and admitted she wasn’t ready to settle down, though she had strong feelings for him.
