Following Azam Khan’s demise, Kanwar Dilshad, ex-secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan, stated that the provincial cabinet of KP has dissolved. He asserted that the Senate holds decision-making power in the absence of a provincial assembly, as both the leader of the House and the leader of the opposition are in the upper house of parliament.

A six-member committee, comprising three government and three opposition members, will select a new candidate for the crucial position. If they can’t agree on a name, the matter will be referred to the election commission, which must decide within 48 hours.
