Afghan Foreign Minister Muttaqi To Visit Pakistan Amid Growing Diplomatic Talks

Afghanistan’s Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is set to visit Islamabad soon, marking his first trip to Pakistan in two years. The three-day visit will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, including security cooperation and regional issues, officials said.

This visit follows Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s April trip to Kabul, which was the first by a Pakistani top diplomat in three years and helped ease tensions between the neighboring countries. Recent moves by the Afghan Taliban government against groups threatening Pakistan have opened the door for increased dialogue.

Senior Taliban commander Saeedullah Saeed recently issued a strong warning against unauthorized militant activities in Pakistan, emphasizing that such acts violate Islamic law and the authority of the Afghan leadership. This statement reflects efforts by Pakistan and China to push Kabul toward cracking down on militants like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Pakistan and China have offered economic and diplomatic support to Afghanistan in return for its cooperation on security matters. Pakistan has also indicated readiness to exchange ambassadors with Kabul, signaling a major diplomatic milestone for the Afghan Taliban government.
