Fresh controversy erupted after reports claimed the government was secretly preparing to move Imran Khan from Adiala Jail. As political circles heated up and PTI accused authorities of planning an abrupt prison transfer, officials inside the high-security facility quietly observed the speculation until they ultimately decided to set the record straight.
Adiala Jail administration categorically rejected the rumours, calling the widely circulated claims “baseless” and “entirely speculative.” Officials confirmed that the PTI founder remains inside his designated high-security zone, receiving routine medical evaluations, strict protection, and standard meals. A recent checkup by a five-member PIMS medical team also declared him stable, further undermining allegations of a planned relocation.
Prison authorities stressed there had been no administrative decision to shift the former prime minister, dismissing the reports as narratives crafted without evidence.
However, the clarification came after hours of intense media chatter suggesting the federal government was weighing options to transfer Khan amid rising political tensions. Those earlier reports claimed officials feared PTI was using protests, gatherings, and sit-ins to spark broader national instability.
The debate intensified when PM’s Coordinator for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ikhtiar Wali, delivered a sharp press briefing, warning that Pakistan’s political rift had deepened to a point “from where return seems impossible.” While he avoided naming Imran Khan directly, his pointed remarks implied that authorities were reviewing proposals to shift the “prisoner” from Adiala due to security considerations.
Wali also escalated political hostilities by accusing KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi of facilitating drug-related networks and alleging involvement of Afridi’s family in narcotics activities under official protection.
This drama follows weeks of confrontations outside the prison, including a 16-hour protest led by CM Afridi and earlier demonstrations by Imran Khan’s sisters, which resulted in their brief detention and ignited further backlash among PTI supporters
