Govt Official Martyred in BLA Terror Attack on Surab; PM, President Vow Retaliation
Khuzdar, May 31 – Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Hidayatullah Buledi was martyred on Friday in a brazen terrorist attack by armed militants of the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), also referred to as Fitna al-Hindustan. The assault targeted Surab city in Khuzdar district, marking one of the deadliest incursions in recent months.
According to officials, the terrorists stormed Surab Bazaar, looted a commercial bank, and torched multiple government residences, including the home of ADC Buledi, where women and children were present during the siege. The ADC, a LUMS graduate, fought valiantly before embracing martyrdom.
State Condemnation and National Mourning
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind condemned the assault as a “cowardly attempt to destabilize the region,” claiming the attack was carried out by proxies allegedly backed by India. “The martyrdom of our brave officer is a symbol of unmatched courage,” he said.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both issued strong condemnations. The premier described the attack as reflective of terrorists’ deep animosity towards Balochistan’s peace and progress, vowing that the war against terrorism would continue until its complete eradication. He offered condolences to ADC Buledi’s family and directed authorities to identify and punish the culprits behind the attack.

President Zardari echoed the sentiment, asserting that “Indian-sponsored terrorists aim to spread unrest in Pakistan, but their nefarious designs will never succeed.” He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to eradicating terrorism.
Counter-Terror Operations Underway
Security forces, including the Frontier Corps (FC), police, and Levies, launched a sweeping search and clearance operation to apprehend the attackers. The Deputy Commissioner of Surab confirmed that action was ongoing and paid tribute to the martyred ADC.
This latest assault follows a deadly blast near Khuzdar’s Zero Point on May 21, which targeted a school bus and claimed eight lives, including five children.
RAW’s Alleged Involvement
Intelligence sources have reported heightened activity by India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), allegedly collaborating with groups like BLA and Fitna al-Khawarij, and exploiting illegal Afghan nationals to intensify violence in Balochistan.
Earlier this year, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry presented concrete evidence of Indian state-sponsored terrorism aimed at destabilizing Pakistan, particularly Balochistan.
The Balochistan government has vowed to continue operations against all anti-state elements and restore lasting peace and security in the region.
