Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi Advises Cricketers to Speak Urdu

Renowned Pakistani actor and television host Faysal Qureshi has urged national cricketers to communicate in Urdu and take pride in their mother tongue, stating that fluency in English should not be considered a measure of confidence or capability.

In a widely circulated video clip on social media, Qureshi emphasized the importance of embracing and promoting the national language. He directly addressed Pakistani cricketers, encouraging them to speak Urdu publicly and confidently rather than feeling pressured to communicate in English.

He said, “I especially want to tell our cricketers to speak Urdu and take pride in themselves and their language.” His statement highlighted the belief that cultural identity and linguistic pride play a significant role in representing the country on international platforms.

The actor further explained that global sports icons such as football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi communicate in their native languages during interviews and public appearances. They do not feel obligated to speak English unnecessarily, and translators are available whenever required. According to him, Pakistani athletes can follow a similar approach by confidently using Urdu and relying on translation services if needed.

Faysal Qureshi also stressed that Pakistanis should value and respect Urdu as part of their identity. He clarified that not knowing English should not be seen as a weakness because it is not the national language of Pakistan. His remarks sparked discussion on social media, with many people supporting his stance on promoting local language and cultural pride.
