Accountability Court Sent Imran Khan on Judicial Remand in Al-Qadir Trust Case

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]On Monday, an accountability court declined the National Accountability Bureau’s request to extend the physical remand of PTI chief Imran Khan.

Instead, Imran Khan was placed on judicial remand in the Al Qadir Trust case by Accountability Judge Mohammad Bashir during the hearing at Adiala Jail. This decision followed a NAB team’s interrogation of Imran Khan at the jail the day before, in connection with the case.

The case revolves around allegations that the former premier and his wife, Bushra Bibi, acquired billions of rupees and hundreds of kanals of land from Bahria Town Ltd to legitimize Rs50 billion, which had been identified and repatriated to Pakistan by the UK during the previous PTI government.

During the court hearing, Imran Khan’s wife and legal team were present, along with a five-member NAB team. Despite NAB’s request for an extension of Imran Khan’s physical remand, the court dismissed the plea and opted for judicial remand.

Following the decision, Imran’s counsel, Sardar Latif Khosa, asserted that he had long argued against the necessity of physical remand in this case. He accused NAB of engaging in “political engineering and political vendetta,” alleging that the government frequently manipulated the institution for its own purposes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
