Pakistan’s poor cricketing performance has prompted PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to seek fresh talent and leadership for the national team. In a move to restructure, the PCB has officially launched a search for a new head coach.

Despite advertising the role, Aaqib Javed remains head coach for now, though reports indicate he may soon step aside to pursue a new role within the board. Javed is said to be eyeing the Director of High-Performance Centre position — a vacancy for which PCB has also invited applications.

The PCB’s recent ad calls for experienced Level III certified coaches with over a decade of experience at the national or domestic level. They’re seeking a dynamic leader with strong management and leadership skills to take permanent charge of the men’s national team.

Aaqib Javed was appointed as interim head coach after the PCB parted ways with Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie. Despite his credentials as a former fast bowler, his tenure has seen Pakistan crash out early from the Champions Trophy and endure several heavy defeats.

His extended contract covered Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand, but the dismal run continued — with the team losing seven of eight ODIs under his leadership.
