However, his ultimate goal was to establish himself in the TV and film industry as an actor, writer, and director. His hard work and perseverance have paid off, as he has achieved everything he aspired for and more.
During a guest appearance on Nida Yasir’s morning show, Hussain discussed his early career, his wife Iqra Aziz, and his views on marriage. Despite his success in the theatre world, he lacked connections in the TV industry. While working as a VJ, he knew actor Ali Safina, who was involved in Nadeem Baig’s drama at the time. Hussain asked Safina to introduce him to the industry, but the meeting did not happen initially. Feeling uncertain, Hussain contemplated returning home, as living alone in Karachi could be isolating. However, he got an opportunity to write scripts for reenactment shows through a friend.
“This is where I began my training for Javed Iqbal by writing crime thrillers for reenactment shows,” joked Yasir. He wrote about eight scripts and even played some of the characters himself. Hussain shared a memorable incident during the shooting of a suicide bombing scene, where his realistic portrayal caused panic, leading to the police mistaking him for a real threat. Despite the scare, this incident eventually led him to meet writer and actor Muhammad Ahmed.

Hussain mentioned that a cameraman on the set informed him about a drama called Dareecha. Ayaz Samoo, who was initially part of the show, had left, and Hussain was encouraged to audition for the role. Muhammad Ahmed agreed, and Hussain made his acting debut as a servant in the drama, with Asad Siddiqui in the lead role. Ironically, Hussain revealed that he recently wrote a script where Asad would play the role of a servant in his own drama, reflecting the twists of fate in the industry.
However, it was Aangan Terha that truly propelled his career. The drama received widespread recognition, with notable industry figures like Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Bushra Ansari, and television channel executives acknowledging his performance. Hussain expressed pride in his comedic talent, stating that humor runs in his family, and he inherited his father’s sarcastic and funny nature.
When asked about his education, Hussain mentioned that he completed his FA (Faculty of Arts), but did not pursue a bachelor’s degree due to failing two subjects.
Shifting the focus to his personal life, Hussain addressed the criticism surrounding his proposal to Iqra Aziz at an award show, with some claiming it was a publicity stunt. He defended the gesture by citing examples of other celebrities, like Farhan Saeed and Urwa Hocane, who also had pre-planned proposals despite the element of surprise being important to women who grew up reading fairy tales. He explained that the proposal idea was suggested by Frieha Altaf, and it was so discreet that even his co-host Saba Qamar was unaware of it.
Hussain and Aziz are now parents to a baby boy named Kabir Hussain. Discussing their plans for expanding their family, Hussain revealed that he desires a larger family with more children but has left the decision to Iqra. He believes it is her choice since it involves her body and ultimately, she will decide how many kids they should have. However, Hussain expressed his preference for having more children and his belief that a baby is the key to a successful marriage, as it deepens the bond between partners.
Regarding friendships in the industry, Hussain acknowledged that while he may appear friendly to everyone, not[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
