Pakistan Begins Halal Meat Rxports to Central Asian Nation

Pakistan has officially begun exporting halal meat to Tajikistan, marking a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral trade ties between the two countries. The development has been made possible through the active efforts of Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzoda Toir, who has played a key role in promoting economic and commercial cooperation.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Muhammad Saeed Sarwar, shared the details during an interactive session with a Pakistani media delegation and local business representatives at the Embassy of Pakistan in Dushanbe. He said Pakistan plans to export around 143,000 tons of goods to Tajikistan, valued at approximately $14.5 million, with halal products expected to contribute significantly to trade growth.

Ambassador Sarwar also pointed to the strong likelihood of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Pakistan and Tajikistan, noting that trade liberalization would support regional economic integration. He expressed confidence that bilateral trade could expand to $300 million in the coming years with active engagement from business communities on both sides.

Highlighting connectivity, the ambassador stressed the importance of effective marketing and the involvement of travel agents to ensure the sustainable operation of direct flights. He said restoring regular flights would greatly enhance trade, tourism, and overall economic activity.

Describing Tajikistan as a key regional partner, Sarwar said Central Asian states are central to Pakistan’s long-term economic strategy. He cited Tajikistan’s strong economic performance, with annual GDP growth of around 8 percent, as a sign of expanding opportunities.
