Islamabad authorities have intensified citywide actions against smoke-emitting vehicles to tackle rising air pollution. The initiative aims to improve air quality and protect public health.
The Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) reports that multiple emission testing points are now fully operational. These stations help motorists check their vehicles and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Over the past six days, 2,331 vehicles passed the emission test and received official clearance stickers. In the last 24 hours alone, ITA tested around 401 vehicles, providing immediate compliance certification.
Authorities confirmed that 14 high-emission vehicles were seized during enforcement operations. These actions are part of Islamabad’s broader plan to remove polluting vehicles from city roads and maintain a cleaner environment.
The ITA Chairman said inspection teams are stationed at all testing points to conduct thorough vehicle checks. He emphasized that testing stations are fully functional and equipped to handle high traffic efficiently.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon announced that the number of emission testing points would be increased. Expanding these facilities will reduce congestion and allow more motorists to undergo testing conveniently, supporting Islamabad’s environmental goals.
The campaign also aims to discourage the use of unfit vehicles. Officials said that continuous monitoring and strict enforcement are essential to prevent environmental hazards.
Islamabad’s authorities highlighted that the crackdown is ongoing. Motorists are urged to comply with emission standards and ensure their vehicles meet environmental safety requirements.
