Punjab police have arrested 12 individuals suspected of involvement in terrorism and linked to India’s intelligence agency, RAW, officials confirmed today.
The detainees were apprehended during coordinated operations across multiple districts, following intelligence inputs about planned activities targeting public safety and critical infrastructure.
Authorities said the suspects were under surveillance for several weeks before being taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of their network and objectives.
Police officials stated that the arrests prevented potential attacks, highlighting the importance of timely intelligence sharing and rapid response by law enforcement agencies.
Initial questioning indicates that the suspects were allegedly planning acts of sabotage and unrest, although the authorities have not disclosed full operational details due to the sensitivity of the matter.
Security forces recovered materials during raids, including communications equipment, documents, and other items considered crucial evidence for ongoing investigations.
Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) emphasized that the arrests demonstrate the state’s resolve to maintain law and order and prevent cross-border interference in Pakistan’s internal security affairs.
The government reiterated its stance against external interference and warned that such activities would be dealt with strictly under national security laws.
Officials also noted that cooperation between provincial and federal intelligence agencies played a key role in uncovering the suspects’ alleged plans and connections.
Political leaders and security analysts welcomed the operation, calling it a significant success in Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts.
They highlighted that prompt action against foreign-backed terror networks is crucial to safeguarding civilians and national infrastructure.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that further arrests could be made if additional links or networks are identified.
