Pakistan And Malaysia Agree To Strengthen Halal And Tech Trade Ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy excellent relations built on trust, shared values, and brotherhood.

Speaking in Kuala Lumpur alongside Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, he said Malaysia feels like a second home due to its warmth and hospitality. Shehbaz praised Anwar’s leadership for turning Malaysia into a developed and modern nation.

Both leaders expressed a strong desire to expand cooperation in multiple sectors, including the halal industry, education, investment, and Tech Trade. They agreed to launch joint projects that will help both countries benefit from each other’s experience and expertise.

Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed Malaysia’s decision to import $200 million worth of halal meat from Pakistan. He said trade in this area would continue to grow as both sides strengthen their economic partnership.

The two leaders also witnessed the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to promote collaboration in trade, information technology, anti-corruption efforts, and Tech Trade development.

Shehbaz highlighted the large number of Pakistani students studying in Malaysia and said joint ventures in education and technology could create new opportunities for both countries.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim described Shehbaz as his “brother” and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). He emphasized that Tech Trade and innovation are key to building a stronger and more competitive partnership.

Anwar also stressed the need for peace between Pakistan and India to ensure regional stability. He appreciated Pakistan’s clear stance on the Gaza crisis and noted Malaysia’s shared solidarity with the people of Palestine.

The Foreign Office said the visit reflected the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and Malaysia. It added that the discussions aimed to open a new chapter of cooperation focused on halal trade, digital economy, and sustainable Tech Trade growth.

Both sides expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would lead to stronger economic ties and mutual prosperity.
