Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced immediate relief for flood-hit families by suspending electricity bill collection for August.
The directive came during an emergency meeting aimed at assisting communities severely impacted by the recent floods. Power distribution companies have been told to implement the measure without delay, offering critical relief to millions still reeling from the disaster.
Floods have already claimed 956 lives, injured more than 1,060 people, and affected over 4.4 million nationwide. In Punjab alone, floodwaters damaged 4,500 villages, forcing the displacement of around 2.45 million residents and 1.9 million livestock.
More than 8,400 homes have been damaged or destroyed since June 26, while 396 relief camps continue to provide shelter, food, and medical aid to the affected population
