The Punjab School Education Department has announced the start of the second phase of its teacher rationalisation policy next week. This move aims to address staffing imbalances in schools across Punjab by transferring teachers from schools with too many staff members to those facing shortages.
Under this policy, teachers who were not assigned during the first phase will be reassigned to schools that need additional staff. The department has instructed all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and District Assistant Education Officers (DAEOs) to submit detailed reports on the transfer process. This is especially important as many teachers did not join their new assignments during the first phase.
The Punjab education authorities have warned that disciplinary action will be taken against teachers who refuse to follow transfer orders. This measure is intended to ensure a smooth and fair implementation of the teacher rationalisation policy across the province.
In addition, the Director of Monitoring in Punjab has ordered officials to complete the registration and verification of student enrollments on the Central Education System (CESS) within two days. This step is crucial to ensure that the transfer process is carried out efficiently and on time.
The Punjab education department’s focus on rationalising teacher deployment aims to improve the quality of education by ensuring that schools have adequate and balanced teaching staff. By addressing teacher shortages in some areas and excess staff in others, the department hopes to enhance learning conditions for students.
Overall, the second phase of the teacher transfers in Punjab is a key step towards better resource management in the education sector. Authorities remain committed to monitoring the process closely and taking action against any violations to ensure the policy’s success.
