The Punjab Government has approved significant recruitment drives across multiple departments. This decision aims to strengthen key sectors and improve public services.
Among the approvals, the Punjab Government sanctioned the hiring of constables for the Right Management Police. Vacancies were also opened in the Walled City Authority, Punjab Financial Advisory Services, Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department, and Punjab Energy Holding Company Limited.
In addition, the government extended service contracts for employees in the Home Department, Planning & Development, Literacy Department, and the Multan Center for Combating Violence Against Women. Over 590 project-based workers in the Literacy Department and 31 staff members of the SPU research unit received contract renewals.
To improve recruitment efficiency, the Punjab Government passed the Punjab Locum Recruitment Act 2025. This law will streamline hiring for clinical and non-clinical roles.
Governance reforms were also introduced. Amendments to the Punjab Drug Rules, Sports Board Punjab regulations, and Punjab Charities Commission framework were approved. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed cracking down on fake charities.
For workplace safety, the Punjab Government approved the Occupational Safety and Health Rules 2024. These rules focus on protecting workers in construction and sewer line sectors. The Labour Department will set up an enforcement team to ensure compliance.
The Punjab Government is also boosting investment by launching a simplified online system for petrol pump applications. This system reduces paperwork, helping investors obtain NOCs faster.
Urban infrastructure development is underway. New WASA offices will open in five divisions and 13 cities. AI-based traffic management and Excel Road Management Systems will start within 90 days to improve traffic flow.
Social welfare programs include a lifelong pension scheme for widows of government employees and paid internships for nurses. Prison work programs were also approved, emphasizing fair wages and third-party monitoring.
To combat child labor, the Punjab Government passed the Restriction on Employment of Children Rules 2024. It also standardized university appointment processes.
Agricultural support continues through the Kisan Card program, which has disbursed over Rs6.93 billion to farmers. New tractor manufacturing plants are planned.
Environmental protection efforts include regulations to safeguard native bird species and partnerships with international foundations.
Finally, the Punjab Government approved Rs2.6 billion in emergency flood relief through PDMA. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz called for strict audits and third-party monitoring to ensure transparency.
