Pakistanis are expected to enjoy a rare four-day holiday in August, as Independence Day and the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) precede the weekend.
As per a Cabinet Division notification, Thursday, August 14, will be observed as a public holiday for Independence Day, while Chehlum falls on Friday, August 15.
Although Chehlum is not part of the official federal holiday calendar, local administrations—like last year in Karachi and Rawalpindi—are anticipated to declare holidays in major cities.
With Saturday and Sunday following these dates, citizens will get a continuous break from August 14 to 17.
Meanwhile, authorities have been instructed to enhance security for both events to ensure safe commemorations and gatherings.
