Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated that the party is weighing the option of resigning from or boycotting assemblies in reaction to recent court rulings,o a court verdict announced a day earlier, referring to the anti-terrorism courts’ decisions in the May 9 riot cases.

On Zain Qureshi’s acquittal, he clarified that it was not politically motivated but due to a lack of concrete evidence against Qureshi and others involved. He stressed that the legal outcomes were based solely on insufficient proof.

Gohar announced that PTI supporters would hold nationwide protests on August 5, 2025, following a call from the party’s founder. These demonstrations, he added, would be peaceful and led by local leaders across different regions. He himself will lead a protest in Buner, while KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Mahmood Khan Achakzai will spearhead rallies in their respective areas.

Earlier today, an anti-terrorism court in Sargodha announced its decision in a May 9 violence case related to the attack on the Mianwali Judicial Complex. PTI worker Muhammad Ismail received a life sentence, while 51 others — including senior figures like Ahmed Khan Bhachar, Bilal Ijaz, and Ahmed Chattha — were declared proclaimed offenders.

The case, registered under FIR No. 349 at Mianwali’s City Police Station, is part of an ongoing crackdown on PTI leaders and activists after the post-arrest protests on May 9. The court has ordered law enforcement to apprehend and present all fugitives within a month
