Punjab Approves 26,898 New Posts in Public Schools Without Additional Budget Burden
Lahore – In a major development for the education sector, the Punjab Finance Department has approved the creation of 26,898 posts across 1,961 upgraded and newly constructed public schools, replacing 43,960 positions abolished from previously outsourced schools under the School Education Department.
According to an official notification issued on May 16, 2025, the decision will not impose any additional financial burden on the provincial government.
The new posts will be accommodated by rationalizing existing staff, reallocating teachers and support personnel from overstaffed schools and closed outsourced institutions to schools that are understaffed, based on Student-Teacher Ratio (STR) metrics.
The notification strictly prohibits fresh recruitment, emphasizing that the adjustment will be made within the current workforce.
