ISLAMABAD – Amid growing diplomatic tensions, Pakistan has imposed a complete ban on the live streaming of the Indian Premier League (IPL), just days after India barred the broadcast of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in its territory.
The move comes in the wake of the Pahalgam incident, where 26 tourists were killed in a gun attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir. India quickly pointed fingers at Pakistan without providing any evidence—a claim that Islamabad has firmly denied as baseless.

The tit-for-tat broadcasting bans signal a deepening rift between the two countries. Until now, Pakistani cricket fans could watch IPL matches via various streaming platforms and channels. However, authorities have now prohibited all forms of IPL live coverage in Pakistan, reinforcing a reciprocal stance against India’s PSL restrictions.
The escalating media and sports sanctions are further straining relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, and critics warn this could widen the cultural and diplomatic divide, affecting not just official channels but also people-to-people interactions.
