Zalmi Collapse Under Pressure
In response, Peshawar Zalmi struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 141 runs. Islamabad’s disciplined bowling unit kept the pressure high, with eight Zalmi batters failing to reach double figures. The top and middle orders collapsed, leaving only Mohammad Haris to resist with a valiant 87-run knock.
United’s Bowling Attack Shines
Imad Wasim led the bowling attack with a three-wicket haul, while Shadab Khan and Ben Dwarshuis chipped in with two wickets each. Their combined effort ensured that Zalmi never came close to threatening the mammoth target.
Babar Azam Reflects on Defeat
Speaking after the match, Zalmi skipper Babar Azam admitted the team’s failure to execute their plans effectively.
“We were not able to implement our plans. When the target is big, sometimes pressure comes in. But there are still many matches left, and we will try to improve our performance,” Babar said.
Despite the heavy defeat, Babar remained hopeful for a turnaround in the upcoming matches, assuring fans that the team would address its issues and strive to bounce back stronger.
