Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General and veteran politician Senator Taj Haider passed away after a brief illness, his family confirmed. He was undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Funeral details will be announced later.
Born on March 8, 1942, in Kota, Rajasthan, Taj Haider was 83. He received early education at Government Boys High School, Ranchor Line, Karachi. Aside from politics, he explored fine arts and wrote for television, including playing Professor Aadiwala in the drama Aabla Pa and writing columns for newspapers.

A founding member of the PPP, Haider joined the party in 1967 after participating in the Socialist Convention. He was honored with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2012 for scientific contributions and won a PTV Award in 2006 for Best Drama Serial Writer.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah mourned his loss, calling him a wise and principled leader devoted to democracy. PPP’s Waqar Mehdi remembered him as a committed comrade and ideological cornerstone of the party.
