Thousands took to the streets across the United States and around the globe in protest against President Donald Trump’s latest controversial policy moves. Branded as Hands Off demonstrations, the protests targeted Trump’s new import tariffs and tough immigration rules.

According to international media reports, demonstrations were held in over 1,000 locations across the U.S., drawing massive crowds in cities like Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. Solidarity rallies were also held in major European cities including London, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Lisbon.

The unrest followed Trump’s announcement of sweeping import tariffs affecting numerous countries, sparking both domestic backlash and global demonstrations. Protesters raised concerns not just over economic impacts, but also over social issues—particularly his administration’s immigration crackdown and recent raids involving international students.

Chants like “hands off Canada” and “hands off Greenland” echoed through the rallies, mocking Trump’s previous interest in acquiring these territories and highlighting his strained ties with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The protests came at a politically sensitive time for Trump, who recently faced electoral setbacks and saw a dip in approval ratings—some of the lowest since his re-election.

In response, the White House defended the president’s agenda, stressing his commitment to safeguarding Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, while accusing Democrats of jeopardizing these programs by offering benefits to undocumented immigrants.
