Lahore Zoo Reduces Ticket Prices Following Criticism

Lahore Zoo Slashes Ticket Prices Following Public Outcry

In response to public backlash and media coverage, the Lahore Zoo administration has drastically reduced its entry ticket prices, providing relief to visitors.

This decision came after Samaa TV highlighted the steep ticket costs, which prompted immediate action from the authorities.

Price Reductions
Previously, the Lahore Zoo charged Rs300 for general entry tickets, which has now been reduced to Rs100. Additionally, the complete package, which was previously priced at Rs1,100, is now available for Rs500. The price of the hologram ticket has been slashed from Rs600 to Rs300. However, the aquarium and reptile sections still require separate tickets, priced at Rs200 each.

Public Backlash Over High Prices
The steep ticket prices had sparked outrage, particularly during the Eid holidays, when families flocked to the zoo for celebrations. On the third day of Eid, a large crowd of children and adults visited the zoo, but many parents were dismayed by the high charges.

Parents voiced concerns over the affordability of such entertainment venues, emphasizing that zoos should be accessible to everyone, especially during festive seasons. Some also criticized the zoo administration’s offer of a Rs600 discount on the complete package, which still left the overall price too high for many.

Ticket Prices in Other Cities
While Lahore Zoo reduced its ticket prices, other cities have different entry fees for their zoos:

  • Peshawar Zoo Prices:
    • Adults (12-60 years): Rs40
    • Children (1-12 years): Rs20
    • Senior Citizens (above 60): Free
    • Students: 50% discount (Rs20 per ticket)
  • Karachi Zoo Prices:
    • Adults: Rs50
    • Children: Rs30 (but Rs50 on Eid)
    • Karachi Zoo Train Ticket: Rs100 on Eid (doubled from Rs50)
    • Separate tickets for Bhoot Bangla and Mumtaz Begum.

Call for Government Action
Visitors from across the country are urging authorities to ensure fair pricing at recreational spots, particularly during peak seasons like Eid. Many believe that making zoos more affordable will not only encourage families to visit but also foster better education about wildlife for children.
