Historic Crowd Fills Makkah on Ramadan’s 27th Night for Laylat Al-Qadr

Millions of Muslims from around the world gathered at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah on the 27th night Laylat Al-Qadr of Ramadan, offering Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers in pursuit of Laylat Al-Qadr (The Night of Power).

Unprecedented Attendance

Marking a new record, over 4.2 million worshipers attended prayers at the Grand Mosque on Wednesday night, as reported by Al-Ekhbariya.

Laylat Al-Qadr, one of Islam’s holiest nights, is described in the Qur’an as “better than a thousand months.” Though its exact date is uncertain, it is widely believed to fall on the 27th night of Ramadan, with Muslims urged to seek it on odd nights in the last 10 days.

Extensive Arrangements

Authorities implemented large-scale preparations to accommodate the overwhelming crowd:

  • The Mataf was organized to facilitate 107,000 pilgrims per hour.
  • 428 escalators and 28 elevators were activated for accessibility.
  • 1,300 advanced audio speakers were installed for enhanced sound.
  • Cooling systems with a 90,000-ton capacity ensured a comfortable atmosphere.

Medical Support for Worshipers

The Makkah Region Health Affairs Department deployed medical teams and healthcare centers within the Grand Mosque and its courtyards to provide immediate assistance.

This spiritually significant night brought millions together in devotion, seeking divine blessings at Islam’s most sacred sites.
