Rawalpindi to Receive 98 New Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics

The Punjab government has announced plans to outsource Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centres (RHCs) across all 37 districts, including Rawalpindi, under the newly introduced Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics (MNHC) initiative. The decision aims to enhance healthcare services while restructuring staffing models.

Under this plan, existing regular employees at these centers will be relocated to other government hospitals once new staff is recruited. Non-regular staff will be regularized, whereas employees hired under specific health projects will be relieved upon project completion.

A meeting led by the Secretary of the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Punjab confirmed that the outsourcing process will be managed by District Health Authorities (DHAs). Before being outsourced and rebranded as MNHCs, the health centers will undergo renovations.

Implementation in Rawalpindi

In Rawalpindi, seven BHUs and RHCs have already been outsourced in the initial phase, with 20 more to follow. Ultimately, 98 clinics will be operational across the district, providing free healthcare services to the public.

Dr. Asif Arbab Niazi, CEO of Rawalpindi DHA, emphasized that these clinics will help ease the burden on major hospitals, ensuring better access to quality healthcare for the community.
