Eidul Fitr 2025 is set to offer an extended holiday for Pakistanis, with many expecting a break from March 29 to April 6. The festival marks the end of Ramadan, a month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and reflection, and is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal.
As per Islamic tradition, the exact date of Eidul Fitr depends on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon. According to the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, Eidul Fitr in 2025 is likely to be observed on March 31. Experts predict that the crescent moon will be visible on the evening of March 30, meeting the visibility criteria with the moon being over 26 hours old.

With Eid potentially falling from Monday to Wednesday, Pakistanis are hopeful for an extended holiday. The first three days of Eid coinciding with the weekend could lead to a five-day official holiday from March 29 to April 2. If the government grants additional leave for Thursday and Friday, the holiday period could stretch to nine days, from March 29 to April 6.
The final holiday schedule will depend on the official moon sighting announcement.
