Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has unveiled a comprehensive Ramadan package aimed at providing financial relief to four million families across Pakistan. Speaking at the launch ceremony in Islamabad, the Prime Minister announced that each household would receive Rs 5,000 through a digital wallet, benefiting nearly 20 million people nationwide.
Sharif expressed gratitude for the reduced inflation during Ramadan compared to previous years and highlighted the government’s increased financial commitment. “This year, we have allocated Rs 20 billion for the Ramadan package, compared to Rs 7 billion last year, reflecting a 200 percent increase to ensure maximum reach and support,” he noted.

In addition to the federal initiative, provincial governments have also rolled out their relief programs. Punjab’s “Nigehban Ramazan” project, launched in February, aims to provide Rs 10,000 to three million low-income families. The funds are being distributed through Pakistan Post, with the Bank of Punjab issuing 500,000 pay orders daily to ensure efficient delivery across the province.
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has also continued its annual Ramadan and Eid relief package, providing Rs 10,000 to over one million families. The funds will be distributed transparently through banks and EasyPaisa before the middle of Ramadan.
With the Ramadan moon not sighted, the first fast will be observed on Sunday, March 2, as announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
