PM asks chicken price

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Without getting into the discussion over whether the chicken or the egg came first, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reluctantly asked the relevant authorities on Monday why chicken meat was so expensive in the nation when everything was in order and there was no lack of anything.

The premier questioned the concerned officials, “Why was there an increase in the price of chicken if there is no shortage of food?” when chicken meat’s price soared over the Rs700 per kg threshold.

The premier’s remarks came during a meeting on the availability and price control of essential items during Ramazan – a holy month when people annually grapple with buying essential food items because of the exorbitant rates – wherein he ordered “ruthless legal action against hoarders and profiteers”.

PM Shehbaz stated that stern action should be taken against profiteers, hoarders, and those who overcharge while giving the district administration and law enforcement organisations in the federation and provinces a free hand.

PM Shehbaz gave the order to conduct clean-up operations in godowns, stores, and markets prior to Ramadan in the meeting that the food minister and others attended. Additionally, he instructed the officials to treat all of the overcharging flood victims and other hard-up people with an iron fist.

Also, the PM tasked the federal government along with the chief minister of controlling the prices of commodities and availability in Ramazan. He directed the officials to take strict legal action against all those causing trouble to the people in the holy month of Ramazan. “Teach them a lesson,” he said.

Subsequently, PM Shehbaz while issuing a stern warning said that action will be taken against the officers of the areas concerned where there will be any disturbance in demand and supply or prices of the commodities. He then lashed out at the officials for not being able to control the prices of chicken meat.

The prime minister stated once more that anyone upsetting people during Ramadan should not be shown any tolerance; instead, they must face legal consequences. He issued orders for the arrest of everyone involved in oppressing people for financial gain.

Prior to Ramadan, the PM also ordered that utility stores all around the nation be supplied with high-quality goods, and that mobile utility stores be put up during the holy month. He commanded, “Take the prayers of those who fast during Sahar and Iftar.”

The PM emphasised that individuals who are upsetting people during Ramadan should not receive any indulgence; rather, legal action must be taken against them. All those involved in oppressing people for financial gain were to be detained, he ordered.

Prior to Ramadan, the PM also ordered that quality products be supplied to utility stores across the nation, and that during the holy month, mobile utility stores be established. Take in the prayers of those who fasted during Sahar and Iftar, he commanded.

The establishment of Sasta Ramazan Bazaars in the federation and provinces was subsequently ordered by PM Shehbaz, who also stipulated that modern technology be utilised to regulate prices in the bazaars. Despite all the instructions, the premier was informed at the meeting that there is no shortage of food goods, including wheat, anywhere in the nation, according to the official statement.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
