Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Schedules Feb 28 Meeting for Ramadan Moon Sighting

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene in Peshawar on Friday, February 28, to observe the Ramadan moon. The meeting, led by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, will take place at the Auqaf Building on Eidgah Charsadda Road at 6:30 PM.

Officials from various institutions, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and SUPARCO, will participate, along with zonal members from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Quetta. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted a strong likelihood of moon sighting on March 1, suggesting Ramadan may commence on March 2, Sunday.

Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a period of fasting, self-discipline, and spiritual reflection. Muslims abstain from food, drink, and negative speech while engaging in prayer, Quran recitation, and charitable deeds.
