An elderly man’s lost savings for his Umrah pilgrimage were safely returned thanks to the honesty of two Karachi traffic officers. Sub-Inspector Rana Muhammad Latif and Constable Mir Zaman of the South Traffic Police found a handbag during their patrol near the Khayaban-e-Ittehad and Bukhari Light Signal in Defence. The bag contained Rs515,000 in cash, two passports, and the contact details of its owner, Muhammad Yousuf.
Upon finding the bag, the officers quickly contacted Yousuf and arranged for its return. Yousuf explained that he had lost the bag while commuting to deposit funds with a travel agent for his Umrah journey. Overwhelmed with gratitude, the elderly man praised the officers’ honesty and integrity in handling the situation.

In recognition of their exemplary conduct, DIG Traffic announced commendation certificates and cash rewards for Latif and Zaman. Their actions have set an inspiring example of honesty in public service.
Meanwhile, ahead of the 2025 Umrah season, Saudi Arabia has introduced stricter health protocols for pilgrims. These regulations require mandatory vaccinations against meningococcal meningitis, polio, yellow fever, COVID-19, and seasonal influenza. Pilgrims are advised to carry health-related documents and consult their doctors before travel.
